How to make a verb into a negative and a question (Lesson 5)

We call the verbs that end with MASU "the MASU-form of verbs." We use the MASU-form, when we speak politely. To make it a negative, we change MASU to MASEN. So, YOMIMASU (to read) becomes YOMIMASEN.

To make it into a question, we add the particle KA at the end of a sentence, and say it with a rising intonation. The question form of YOMIMASU (to read) is YOMIMASU KA.
