How do you qualify for the automatic entrance scholarship at York University? ›

You must be a high school student applying to a direct-entry undergraduate program and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant) or protected person. You must also have completed your high school diploma with high academic standing (minimum 80%).

Eligible high school students are automatically considered for a variety of admission scholarships when they apply to the University. There are also admissions scholarships that require a separate application, and others that require you to complete an awards profile.

Harvey Schwartz Scholarship

Each year, two full-tuition scholarships are awarded to incoming students who have demonstrated academic merit and financial need, though not necessarily by federal guidelines.

Entrance Scholar awards are presented to first year students who achieve 560 points or more in their Leaving Certificate (or equivalent second level examination) in recognition of their academic accomplishment to date. No application is required and recipients are automatically informed.

Preference is given to a student who has demonstrated strong leadership potential and community involvement. Up to $100,000 over four years of study (up to $40,000 in the first year and renewable for $20,000 in the second, third and fourth years).
