GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: What time are you open?

A: Yes. It is really scary!

QUESTIONS ABOUT TICKETS

Q: How do I print off my tickets? Do I need to print off my tickets?
A: We do recommend printing off your tickets. However, if you do have a smartphone, we are able to scan the tickets from your phone.

Q: Can I switch the time/date of my ticket? I can’t make it to my reservation.
A: No. Please plan your visit before purchasing tickets. Unfortunately we do not offer refunds, rescheduled tickets, or exchanges under any circ*mstances. If you cannot make it during your scheduled time, we recommend you give your tickets to friend who can.

Q: Are there discounts for children?
A: No. All tickets are the same price.

Q: Once we've paid for admission are we able to go through again?
A: No. However, you can purchase another ticket if you would like to walk through the haunted house again.

Q: Are group discounts available?
A: Yes. All group discounts and reservations can be made on our ticketing page. If you have questions, please give us a call at (303) 355-FEAR or email info@getscared.com.

Q: Do I get my money back if I make it through the haunted house?
A: Like sporting events and large attractions, we do not give refunds under any circ*mstances.

ON-SITE/DAY OF EVENT QUESTIONS

Q: How long is the wait in line?
A: It depends. During our September hours, the wait is usually very short. The beginning of October, there is typically a short wait, maybe 20-30 minutes on a weeknight. As it gets closer to Halloween, specifically on a Friday or Saturday night, the wait can be long. The closer you come to opening time (7:00 pm) the shorter the wait. We do offer a Fast Pass that offers a much shorter wait and an Skip the Line pass has no wait!

Q: Do you charge for parking?
A: No, parking along the street is free. Please park along 39th Avenue or one of the adjacent parking lots.

Q: Is the waiting area inside?
A: Typically the waiting area is outside, however, in inclement weather we will allow open a limited amount of queue space inside of the building.

Q: Is The 13th Floor accessible?
A: Yes. We do our best to be handicap accessible inside the attraction! There are a couple areas that may have to be by-passed; we provide by-passes for all guests that cannot go through certain rooms of the haunted house. Please make sure that you check in with an Event Staff employee and they will help you through the houses.

Q: Do you have a lot of strobe lights in the haunted house?
A: Yes. We have many strobe lights throughout the entire haunted house. It is not recommended for people that have Epilepsy go through the haunted house. We have strobe lights in many of our rooms and fog. We also don't recommend people with asthma, heart issues and pregnant women go through the haunted house as well. We just want everyone to have a safe time.

You can always ask your physician to see if you can go through, however, we just don't want you to get hurt.

Q: Is there security?
A: On most busy nights there are police officers at the event.

Q: Can we take photos and/or videos inside the haunted house?
A: No. Photography and video recording (including GoPros) are not permitted.

Q: Will the actors touch us, or can we touch the actors?
A: No. Actors will not touch you. Please be respectful and do not touch them. Incidental and unintentional contact may occur.

Q: If I enter the haunted house and get too scared, what do I do?
A: If you get too scared, stay calm and find tell the actor in the room and they will escort you outside. Please note, like sporting events and large attractions, we do not give refunds under any circ*mstances.

Q: Can I bring my purse and/or bag into the haunted house?
A: We do not have lockers or a coat check at the haunted house. Very small purses and/or bags are allowed in, other bags should be left at home.

Q: Are there live animals, reptiles, or insects inside?
A: As far as live creatures go, there are many life-like creatures in the haunted house. If there are real animals, they will be handled by professionals.

WHO SHOULD/SHOULDN’T ATTEND

Q: Is there an age limit for 13th Floor?
A: No. However, due to the graphic nature, it is not recommended for small children, toddlers or babies. We have had young children go through and have a great time and adults who go through and are in tears! You're the parent- you be the judge. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn't bring your child to a PG-13 rated movie, it's probably not a good idea to bring them to a haunted house.

Q: Can pregnant women go through the haunted house?
A: We do not recommend pregnant women to go through the haunted house. We suggest calling your OBGYN and/or Physician to discuss the situation with them.

Q: If I have asthma, can I go inside of the haunted house?
A: We do not recommend people with asthma go through the haunted house. We suggest calling or emailing your Physician to discuss the situation with them since we have numerous fog machines throughout the haunted house. If your doctor thinks you’ll be fine, we definitely recommend bringing your inhaler or another device that may help you breathe better.

We also don't recommend people with epilepsy, heart issues and pregnant women go through the haunted house as well. We just want everyone to have a safe time.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Sorry, we know dogs are welcome at most places in Chicago, however, it's just too darn scary for our furry friends at the 13th Floor. They would probably be more comfortable at home with the other scaredy cats…err humans.

MISCELLANEOUS - A FEW MORE QUESTIONS

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express at our on-site Box Office and our ticketing page.

Q: Can I wear a costume?
A: Yes, you can wear costumes to the haunted house! However, we ask that you not wear a mask or carry a prop!

Q: Can we be denied access to 13th Floor?
A: Yes. We will not allow foul language, obscene behavior, weapons, alcohol, drugs, etc… We reserve the right to refuse admittance to anyone we deem not appropriate for entry. Please use your head!!

Q: Is it the same this year?
A: No. We change our layout and design every year. If there are audience favorites from past years, we may incorporate these areas into the new floor plan.

Q: I want to do a story on your haunted house, who should I contact?

A: No. parking is free on­site at the Midtown Industrial Center. There is parking on the front side of Building A and on the back (east) side of Building A (between Building A and B), and there is plenty of street parking in the area as well. Please be respectful of the neighboring businesses and do not park in their parking lots without permission. Some neighboring lots may open for paid parking and you can choose to park there if you wish.

Q: Is the waiting area inside?
A: Part of the waiting area is inside the haunted house and part is outside on a covered dock area. On busier nights the line will extend outside where there is no covering.

Q: How long does it take to go through?
A: It's really difficult to give an answer to this question­ some groups run right through, while others take their time. It really depends on how well you can handle the fear! House of Torment Haunted House is the largest and longest indoor haunted attraction in Illinois! It’s safe to say it’s pretty big, so you should be in there long enough to get plenty scared!

Q: Is House of Torment Haunted House handicap accessible?
A: Yes. We do our best to be handicap accessible inside the attraction! There are a couple areas that may have to be by­passed; we provide by­passes for all guests that cannot go through certain rooms of the haunted house. We do recommend that you visit several haunted houses, no two haunted houses are exactly the same!
