What can I do with my Foreign Languages and Literature degree?

Foreign language majors usually enjoy a broad array of personal and professional opportunities. As a major, you will develop linguistic and cultural skills so that you can communicate clearly and effectively in another language, both orally and in writing. You will also be able to mediate between people from different cultures, conduct research, and critically analyze complex problems.

Double Major in Foreign Language and Business Administration

The degree Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) is offered with a double major in foreign languages. The second major may be in French, German, or Spanish. Students will follow the business curriculum.

A student can begin a language without any prior experience and still complete the dual major program within a four-year period with regular academic advising. Students will need to meet with advisors in both areas.

World Language Secondary Education Certification Endorsem*nts

Endorsem*nts offered by UNO's College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences have been approved by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE). An endorsem*nt designates the area or areas in which individuals have completed coursework required by NDE and the educator preparation program.

Individuals may have one, or more endorsem*nts attached to their teaching certificates. The coursework for a Secondary Education Endorsem*nt is divided into four areas: General Education, Endorsem*nt Content, Professional Core, and Secondary Professional requirements.

Note that the endorsem*nt for World Languages is the same number of credits as the Foreign Languages and Literature Major, so officially declare your FLL major as well!
