Well, what’s common between the US and the Telugu-speaking states? Of course, it’s easy to guess — the Telugu language. As surprising as it may sound, Telugu has topped the list of languages that has an increasing number of those speaking the language in America. In fact, Miss US Nina Davuluri and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also speak the language.
According to research studies, the fastest growing languages in the United States in the last 10 years:
1. Telugu (150%)
2. Arabic (62%)
3. Hindi (61%)
4. Urdu (45%)
5. Chinese (35%)
6. Gujarati (31%).
It is not surprising that one can see complete Asian dominance, but Telugu has absolutely sprung a surprise.
Since the ’80s and ’90s, the IT industry has been strong and has only grown substantially. The rise resulted in the growth of engineering colleges and today, there are 800 engineering colleges in both Telugu-speaking states.
Hiring managers from the US have been hiring Telugus at large and the trend continues to be the same. All engineering students are packed off to the US and this has resulted in its growth. Like Telugu, all languages that are associated with economic and politically sound clusters of people have risen proportionally.
